LIFE PARTNER CLASSES
Dr. Guess leads the Life Partner classes at University
Christian Church Though the classes are not required to
be married by him or to have a wedding at University
Christian Church, they are highly recommended. The
classes are for any couple (married or unmarried) wanting
to evaluate and improve their relationship, and for couples
anticipating marriage, or thinking about marriage. The
classes are generally held on Saturdays mornings and
Sunday afternoons, thus completing eight hours of
pre-marriage counseling accepted by the State of Texas'
TwoGether In Texas program. The two session classes
are held four times during each calendar year. (See
schedule of 2010 classes below)
The Life Partner class uses the Prepare-Enrich inventory
on the first day. It examines your relationship in twelve
different areas, rating each area as a strength or a growth
area. (www.prepare-enrich.com) Special emphasis is
placed on "personality differences and similarities",
"financial management", "family of origin", "intimacy and
sexuality."
Skill building in communication and conflict resolution are
the focus of the second day. We use the "Couple
Communication Inc." model
(www.couplecommunication.com)
Classes are held at University Christian Church,
2007 University Avenue in Austin, Texas. Couples
enrolling and participating will earn a TwoGether in
Texas certificate to waive the State of Texas portion
($60) of the Marriage License fee. The cost per
couple of the eight hours of class will be the $50
scoring fee plus $200 for the two session class.
To sign up for a class, send the $50 scoring fee to Harold
Guess with names, contact phone numbers, e-mail
addresses, and wedding date. He will contact you to get
other needed . The balance of the fee is to be paid at the
beginning of the class.
Up coming classes are to be on the following dates.
Saturday July 10 and Sunday, July 11, 2010
Saturday October 16 and Sunday, October 17, 2010
Be sure to check out the "Contact me" section to get
things rolling for your wedding and marriage.
Dr. Harold Guess is the Austin Wedding Minister. He
is an ordained minister of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) and a certified premarital counselor
of Prepare-Enrich and Couple Communication. Until his
retirement in 2004 Harold was senior minister of
University Christian Church in Austin, Texas, and is
now the Wedding Minister of that congregation. He
officiates at wedding all over the Austin area, and has
officiated at over 400 weddings over the last ten years.
He will make your special wedding day a delight and joy.
[Christian Churches were formed early on the American
frontier, at a time when denominationalism was very strong.
We believed then, and believe now, that we are Christians, but
not the only Christians. We believed then, and believe now,
that to be Christian all one needs to do is believe that Jesus is
the Christ. It could be said that our "movement" was the first
non-denomination church.]
To help you plan your wedding, Harold has compiled the
"Resources for Planning Your Wedding Ceremony." It is a
26 page collection of wedding materials that includes 6
different wedding ceremonies, an assortment of vows, special
ceremonies, and readings that he has used in weddings over
the last ten years.
Harold likes for couples to determine what is said during your
special ceremony, and so the "Resources" are available when
you make a deposit to have him officiate at your wedding.
STRESS AT WEDDING?
Many weddings are hectic times with a
hundred things to do, and energy runs
low. It is a good thing to fortify your
body during this stressful period, and I
recommend Shaklee food supplements.
What I recommend specifically is one of
the Vitalizer packs and the Stress Relief
Complex. Please ask Dr. Guess about
how to obtain these food supplements.
